By Paul Gibbes

For me the lords table is a time for me to reflect on Jesus death on the cross & how that Jesus has given me a gateway into a relationship with God the father.  It is a time for careful self examination to determine if I have a repentant heart or if if hold on to some sin in my life. This is a time of prayer between me and God where we both take a look into my own heart.  I am fully exposed to God he can see all of my thoughts, actions and motives. I cannot hide or twist the truth or pretend because he knows it all and he knows me better than I do. I know I am not worthy enough, I know I am not holy enough, I know I will fall again.  But when I am weak he is strong, he is worthy, he is holy.

John 10v9, 14v6, 2 Cor v9-10

Ephesians 3v14

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven & and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all of God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

I want to change the word “love” to “Jesus name” in 1 Corinthians 13v4to 8 and then read it to you because it gives me so much hope and I think some understanding in how wide, how long, how high & how deep his love is.

1 Corinthians v 4to 7

Jesus is Patient and kind. Jesus is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. He does not demand his own way. Jesus is not irritable, and keeps no record of being wronged. He does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Jesus never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Jesus took our place in death and could only do so because of who he is.

1 Peter v22 to 25

He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds we are healed. Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the guardian of your souls.

In remembrance of Jesus sacrifice for us ,we take this bread and this cup as symbols of  of Jesus body & his blood given to us to free us from our sin. If you love the Lord then share with us in taking the bread & the cup. As we hand them out take the time to remember him & pray taking a look into your own heart.
