After 14 years in voluntary youth leadership roles, Dean began his vocational ministry as Director of Youth for Christ Southland, in Invercargill, New Zealand’s southern most city. This role built on his many years of experience leading youth groups, as well as involvement in provincial youth ministry teams, running large scale camps and events, etc, in Invercargill, Blenheim and Christchurch.
After 20 years in youth ministry, Dean felt God calling him into a wider sphere of ministry and he spent a season as Co-ordinator of the Invercargill Combined Churches, before becoming the Senior Leader of the thriving Otatara Community Church, in Invercargill, New Zealand – a church he led for three years.
In 2003, Dean and his family moved to Cromwell, in the Central Otago region of New Zealand, where he worked in construction, before running the local KiwiHost training franchise. In February of 2006, he returned to ministry with a part time role in a local Baptist church, as well as a part-time role with Promise Keepers New Zealand. This opportunity grew to become full-time, with Dean becoming PK’s National Ministry with Men Coaching Co-ordinator, as well as being heavily involved in running PK’s national Events for men. Dean’s ministry experience in New Zealand includes leadership in Baptist, Pentecostal and Presbyterian churches, as well as the various ministry organisations he’s been involved with.
In 2009, Dean began to sense God’s call back into local church ministry. This, coupled with his families desire to experience life in Australia saw him to move to Queensland, where he has become Senior Pastor at the Gympie Community Church.
Dean is 48 years old and has been married to Tania for 27 years. They have two adult children.
